What Makes Sexy Socials Actually Work?

Why great visuals alone aren’t enough (and what to do instead)

Let’s be honest: no one wants a dull feed. But sexy socials? They do more than look good -they build trust, spark interest, and turn browsers into buyers.

Whether you’re running a coaching biz, growing your expert brand, or just tired of blending in, it’s time for a Glow Up.

Here’s how to dial up the appeal:

1. Get Your Colours Straight

●      Use your brand palette consistently—it builds recognition and trust.

●      Avoid 50 shades of "close enough". Stick to your hex codes (you know those #numbers!).

●      Your templates, carousels, and banners should feel like you at a glance.

Not sure what your palette even is? Our Brand Glow-Up gives you a full visual toolkit.

2. Write Hooks Like a Pro

●      First lines matter. If it doesn’t make them pause, it won’t make them read.

●      Try hooks like:

“This wasn’t the plan…”

Use this to introduce a personal or client story that pivots. Great for: → Sharing a moment where things didn’t go to plan but led to growth, change or clarity.

“I used to [insert struggle]—now I [insert result]”

Simple, effective transformation hook. Use to show before/after stories or how your service creates impact.

Example: “I used to dread posting online - now content is the easiest part of my week.”

“Here’s what I wish I knew when I started…”

Perfect for reflection, advice or positioning yourself as the guide/mentor. Great for carousel intros, long captions, or even Reels.

Test tip: Would you stop scrolling for that line?

3. Mix Your Formats

●      Static images are nice. But variety is key.

●      Use:

○      Carousels to educate or break down ideas

○      Videos for connection and realness (even raw ones work!)

○      Photos that show your face, your vibe, or behind-the-scenes

○      Static Graphics for quotes, infographics, or promotions

Personal content performs. Don’t hide behind graphics 24/7.

4. Brand Everything (But Keep It Interesting)

●      Want to build recognition? Start with consistency.

●      Across your polished graphics, think about:

○      Logo placement – subtle but visible to build memorability

○      Font use – stick to 1–2 from your brand kit

○      Colour choices – draw from your palette for every design

●      The goal? Make it instantly obvious it's your post—even before someone sees your name.

Bonus tip: Don’t make every post look identical. Stick to the rules, but give your content room to breathe.

5. Tell Micro-Stories

●      Your brand isn’t just about education—it’s about connection.

●      Share real stories: wins, lessons, behind-the-scenes moments.

●      Show us what’s happening behind the brand, not just the polished end result.

“This time last year, I was DIYing everything. Today, my brand does the heavy lifting for me.”

6. Have All Your Assets Ready

●      Sexy socials don’t come from Canva panic at 9pm.

●      When you’ve got branded templates, email headers, carousel layouts and content ideas ready to go, showing up becomes easy—even on a busy week.

●      It’s not just about looking good. It’s about saving time, reducing stress, and actually being consistent.

That’s where our Brand Glow-Up comes in: a full suite of ready-to-use assets designed to help you stay visible, confident, and professional every time you post.
